Samsung Galaxy S9 Is Now Official!

The much anticipated Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ devices are now official. The S9 follows the stunning design language of the S8. The S9 devices are more of a revision of the S8 than a revolution.

In terms of features here’s whats on offer:

  • The amazing Infinity Display from last year’s S8 and S8+ is back! Though the screen sizes are different both the S9 and S9+ will have qHD+ screens (Here is an explanation of what a qHD display is.) The screen sizes will also remain at 5.8 and 6.2 inches respectively.
  • The biggest changes are coming to the camera. The S9+ will have a dual 12MP camera setup whilst the S9 will only have one 12MP camera. Both the S9 and S9+ cameras have OIS and variable aperture — f/1.5 for low-light shots and f/2.4 for when there’s more light available. The front camera will be an 8MP unit with auto-focus and improved iris scanning technology. This means users can expect an amazing camera again!
  • Bixby Assistant. Samsung positions this to battle the Google Assistant but last year, S8’s Bixby failed to hold a candle to Google’s Assistant so it will be interesting to see how Bixby fares this time around. Samsung is promising a Live Translation feature that works with 54 input languages and 150 for output. The system will also work with 63 different currencies, offering up a real-time exchange rate.
  • The S9 will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 chip(US) or Exynos 9810(everywhere else).
  • IP68 rating for protection against water and dust.
  • 4GB RAM  and 64GB Internal memory for the regular S9 whilst the + version will have 6GB RAM and 128GB Internal memory
  • Wireless Charging.
  • The fingerprint scanner has been moved from the side of the camera to a more central position below the camera. Last year many people complained about the positioning of the S8’s camera so thumbs up to Samsung for that.
  • The S9 and S9+ will come with Android Oreo (Android 8.0)
  • 3000mAh battery for the S9 and 3500mAh for the S9+
  • The headphone jack lives!! If you’ve been following the trends you know a number of smartphone makers including Apple are no longer including the 3.5mm jack for headphones

This year the differences between the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are less negligible than last year’s duo. The only differences last year were the battery and screen. This time around in addition to a larger screen and battery the plus model will have more RAM and an extra camera as well so if you must have the absolute best set your sights on that model.

Preorders begin on the 1st of March, whilst the device will begin to ship on the 16th of March (in leading markets, of course). With Samsung moving out of Zim last year, you may have to wait a few weeks before you can acquire the device locally.

In terms of pricing the S9 will cost $720 whilst the S9+ will set you back $840. These are obviously not the Zim prices and we’ll have to wait and see how much dealers will sell the phones for. I expect them to be in the $1000+ range once available here.

What are your thoughts on Samsung’s newest flagship device? Are you a fan and will you be getting one? Comments section is always open so let’s discuss

  1. Nice

I think you underestimate Zim… It will probably be 1500+

  2. zimbomarko

What are the duty rates on smartphones?

  3. Checkmate

Is it impossible to torpedo these dealers who make these phones unaffordable?

WHENEVER YOU NEED A HACKER .Every date is expected to end in sex but with this girl it was different I fell in love at first sight most people think love at first sight was a lie I too was one of those but I was immediately proven to be wrong and fate was good to me, we fell in love and we dated for 5yrs, she would come home late and I would neglect it even though we had just moved in together, I would call but she wouldn’t pick up, I became suspicious of her activities I was afraid she was in a form of trouble then I sought a close friend for an advice, when I told my friend my suspicions he told me he had a friend who was in a similar situation and he would call him now to introduce us, his friend’s phone rang twice then he picked up after introducing us his friend told me to contact his cousin who works as an intern for an agency that the federal bank consults with when they are attacked by hackers and he added that he also does a freelance hack to earn on the side he also gave his contact to me and he hung up after saying our thank you’s. His cousin name was Rosa and she helped me with the hack and just as I feared my girl was cheating on me, she has been cheating all along and I was the fool that would always be there I was heartbroken knowing I was about to propose to her all thanks to Rosa I would still be lied too, if you are interested in her freelance service her contact info is: (Parachutelift at gmail dot com), she can also hack into any social media account, Spy on any call, text, track locations, gain password to any social media account including your Emails.
