WhatsApp for Nokia has extended support for some devices running older operating systems while other devices were no longer supported by the chat application. Nokia devices running the Nokia Symbian S40 devices will be able to run WhatsApp until 31 December 2018.

Now, devices running Nokia Symbian S60 do not support WhatsApp for Nokia anymore as the support was ended by the messaging application in June 2017. Below is a list of devices that still support WhatsApp for Nokia and the devices that don’t support WhatsApp for Nokia based on their operating system not just manufacturer as some Samsung devices also had the Nokia Symbian operating systems.

WhatsApp for Nokia is still supported for these phones

If your phone is on the list below or runs Nokia Symbian S40, you are still able to run WhatsApp for Nokia. However, the chat application is no longer available for download on the WhatsApp website but there are some websites that still have the application for you to download. We strongly discourage you to download from these unofficial sources as they may not be safe, so do it at your own risk.

This is because these devices have operating systems that are based on Symbian S60 so they are also affected by the ending in support of WhatsApp for Nokia for Symbian S60 phones. Nokia phones that run Windows phone 8 e.g Nokia Lumia 520 will no longer run WhatsApp for Nokia from 31 December 2017.

New Nokia phones by HMD Global will support WhatsApp

Nokia recently got back into the smartphone business after the acquisition of their brand by Microsoft ended. The brand is now being used by HMD Global, a Finnish company that is now developing and marketing smartphones and feature phones under the Nokia brand name.

The Nokia phones that will be made by HMD Global will come with Android as the operating system. So for all of those new Nokia phones that have Android version greater than 2.3.7, they will support WhatsApp until February 1, 2020. The higher the Android version, the less likely that it will be quickly unsupported by WhatsApp even after 2020.
